Updates and new features for Cryptohopper trading bot

A short update to discuss some of the new features & improvements. The biggest improvements have been the addition of shorting which was already available under beta but is now made available for all and a new configuration interface.

Another new addition that was available a bit longer but slipped under the radar somehow is the new trigger feature that allows you to set triggers that switch templates. So you could track for example BTC/USDT and based on the market conditions switch the template from a bullish one to a more bearish one for example.

Since I have discussed shorting in a previous article Iโ€™ll just cover the changes to the configuration interface in this article.

The configuration part has become a lot easier and Iโ€™ll show you why.

Config Pools, Signals, Triggers and Base-config can still be found under Config but no longer as tabs but accessible under a submenu.

Under Base-config everything is grouped now which makes it a lot easier to locate the settings you want to change before you had to scan through the entire list.

If you havenโ€™t set your bot to advanced this is what you get to see.

GENERAL

BUYING

  • Coins and amounts: Main difference here is the slider which makes it a lot easier to actually set the percentage by showing you the estimated (absolute) value next to it.
  • Strategy: 5 preset strategies are available now which makes it easy to get started for people less familiar with technical analysis

SELLING

Sell settings: same as before

you have set your config to advanced

GENERAL

BUYING

  • Buy settings: Also here you have 2 sliders that help you pick the amounts by displaying (in blue) the absolute numbers. I canโ€™t stress enough how much more intuitive this is.
  • Coins and amounts: You can now see the estimated amount that will be bought with this intuitive slider

SELLING

  • Sell settings: same as before
  • Sell strategy: same as before
  • Stop-loss: same as before
  • Trailing stop-loss: same as before
  • Auto close: same as before
  • Shorting settings: This is a complete new addition, it contains mostly the same features you have from going long on a trade but now all grouped under โ€œShorting settingsโ€. Going short instead of selling does have some benefits it allows you to keep some sort of bookmark on a trade while youโ€™re no longer exposed to price dropping. At anytime you can close your short (or remove it) thereby buying your same position again later at a lower cost without having to manually keep track of how this coin is doing. The settings also allow your bot to do it according to your strategy, a fixed percentage or by trailing similar to how youโ€™d set it for going long.
